BIRDING

Kinney County is one of the world’s richest and most unique birding destinations. The county is located in the Transition Zone between the Texas Hill Country and the South Texas Brush Country, and the western portion of the county is adjacent to the Chihuahuan Desert. rich diversity, the ranges of at least four species of orioles, four species of towhees, three species of quail, and two species of buntings make their home.
KICKAPOO CAVERNS

The park offers picnic sites, camping, hiking, mountain biking, bird-watching, cave tours, and evening bat flight viewing during the season. Take a virtual tour with our interactive trails map. Interesting features of the park include 20 known caves, two of which are large enough to be significant. Tours are offered on Saturdays by reservation. Stuart Bat Cave (formally Green Cave), slightly shorter than Kickapoo at 1,068 feet, is home to large numbers of Mexican free-tailed bats for part of each year.
GOLF

Fort Clark Springs regulation 18-hole golf course is open to the public and is considered one of the finest courses in southwest Texas. Golfers practice putting on a full-size putting green, which overlooks the Tennis Courts, where players play at no extra charge. Players provide their own equipment.
RV-ING
​
The RV Park welcomes all travelers. The Park has 85 full hook-up sites, including cable TV and wireless internet in the Day Room and in limited areas of the park . Telephone connections are available at each site. The Park provides 4 bathrooms, showers, kitchen, day room and laundry room. For your convenience and use, the Day Room provides a telephone, TV, library, and direct connection to the Internet.
THINGS TO DO
HUNTING

Kinney County is one of the premier locations to hunt in Texas, providing some of the best trophy deer in the state, along with any type of exotics you would want to find: axis, black buck antelope, kudu, zebra, scimitar horned oryx, elk, and numerous more.

FISHING

​Just a few miles down the road from Kinney County, lies one of the premier fishing lakes in the world, Lake Amistad. Amistad contains black bass, small-mouth bass, catfish, sand bass, and stripers. The beauty of the Pecos River as it flows into the Rio Grande is unsurpassed, and gives the sightseer the opportunity to see some of the best pictographs in the world, such as Panther Cave.

FORT CLARK MUSEUM
​
Fort Clark, which is located just south of Brackettville, was established on June 20, 1852 at Las Moras Springs, at the head of Las Moras Creek, on a site long favored by indigenous Coahuiltecan Indians and later by Comanche, Apache, and other Indian tribes. In 1849, during his reconnaissance for a practical route between San Antonio and El Paso, Lieutenant W.H.C. Whiting recognized its military potential and recommended the location as a site for a fort. The museum contains numerous historical relics.
